Wind storm.

Wow. Huge wind storm in the area. We lost a barn door, and half a tree (which was already dead). Thankfully, nothing else. We had no hydro for over 14 hours, which for us country folk also meant- no water. No washing dishes, no flushing toilets, playing Monopoly by candle-light, hunting down each flashlight in the house, etc. Quite the adventure! Although the toilets were getting pretty nasty, and Eric pulled water up out of the cistern with a bucket so that we could fill the tanks- and flush!
It did cause me to ponder...about those that never have running water- or power.
We are so blessed....and really-spoiled.

So he thinks.....

A number of months ago, Jacob asked me if he could have a blog.   There were a bunch of "conditions," such how I set the privacy settings, check with me before posting certain links, etc. AND....I showed him the VERY basic steps of set-up and that was it!   He was set to do my favourite type of learning for children to do...."figure it out yourself."   He has been very successful, playing around with lay-out, and generally managing it all on his own.

I have been "irked" that my photos on MY blog would only go so big.  I wanted bigger!   And now they are.....and I asked Jacob what changes needed to be made in my blog!    He's completely convinced that he has somehow surpassed my brain power in the computer world.   I'll just let him think that until the next time he asks ME how to do something!   I suppose that is my job....to work myself out of a job!   All good.

And so....one more photo from Yellow Box Photography's latest newborn from our "Baby Box."

Photography

There is just something about this photo that I could look at often. It just feels very emotional to me.....a father with a tight grip on his daughter.

We have a nearly one year old in the house and everyone is "oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing" for a couple of hours. My friend's youngest boy (of 4!) is a sweet wee man to photography.

Rejoicing in these days......

Yes people! I went to a "True Woman" conference this past week-end, and it was very convicting in many ways. How should we exalt God's name even in the nitty gritty muddy days of spring? It made me realize that I have a LONG way to go.......so thankful for a God who hears our pleas for strength even when every time a mom turns around there is.......well, MUD. Thanking God for the children that create these moments!

Martha I am not.

I have been trying to have the children contribute to the cooking a bit more lately, and as they have been skimming through Kraft magazines, they thought this would make a great dessert. I'm sure there is way to make them all beautifully even...maybe go a bit faster, without 6 children sitting on counters, offering opinions, sticking fingers in here and there....but regardless, I'm sure they'll taste great!
