Bike-A-Thon.
Our church supports Word & Deed, an organization that unlike others not only aids those in need with action, but more importantly feeds the souls with God's precious Word. They had their third annual bike-a-thon on June 6, and we made it a family event! What great fun! The children were in awe that I remembered HOW to ride a bike (we had to borrow a neighbours). I told them that my brain would remember, but I wasn't so sure about my body remembering! (I think high-school was the last time I was on a bike).
The total distance was 52km, from Fort Erie, through the Falls and along the river. A beautiful ride. I did the first 30 km with Jacob, Macayla, Justin and Kadin, while Eric stuck around at the "half-way" point with Levi and Gideon. Then Eric took over (for the last 22km), and I met them at the finish with the little guys!
It was a gorgeous day! A lovely lunch at the end.......and two very proud parents that our big four children did the whole 52 kms!!! 391 riders with bright orange shirts- a great sight to see!
And for the record, I was surprisingly able to walk quite easily the next morning. I guess I'm not as out of shape as I thought I was!
I pray that the Lord will bless the work and money raised to change hearts for eternity.
