Levi's catch!

The dock was full of fisherman of all ages on a cloudy afternoon, when it was just too cool to swim. Levi was just delighted to reel in this sunfish! This is such great "boy" fun....I am so blessed that we are able to make these memories for and with our children.

The Big One!

The mighty fisherman- Jacob. Our week at the cottage was wet and cool- BUT we had a good time nevertheless. Played games...slept late....tried to avoid the black flies (nasty little things!).....and lots of fishing. This is the big bass that Jacob snagged. He was just thrilled! At the end of the week we had a big potluck fishfry with a couple other families that were up at the cottages.
Dear friends in Perth- thanks for commenting! And if I'm only blogging for you- then it is worth it! I just figured out a way so that posting photos this way is WAY easier and MUCH faster for me.....and it is a way that you can get a little glimpse into our lives at your own time!

Tender Moments

It is such a joy to see my children enjoying each other. Gideon is just adored in this house. I think I've enjoyed each of my children more and more, and think that I am more and more realizing the depth of responsibility entrusted to us by our Heavenly Father. At the same time realizing the many short-comings of my life as a parent. I am grateful that our God is GREAT to work in their precious hearts despite my short-comings. I pray for their tender hearts to grow and serve Him.

More cottage adventures to come...

Packing, packing, packing...

We are all looking forward to a week at the cottage next week. I should be getting back to the packing now. This is an extra week for us the summer, so we are quite thrilled.
We had an excellent day at Marineland on Wednesday. Whale feeding, dolphin/sea lion shows....and lots of crazy rides! Good fun.

A new nine year old today.

Well my dear daugther is another year old. Those early years flew by, with a brother less than two years older, and twins just below...I do feel sad that I sort of missed Macayla in the middle. She definitely shines, and holds her own with five brothers. Such a blessing to us! Macayla is a wonderful helper, loves her brothers, pays special attention to the younger ones, and whenever I NEED to find something- I send the girl! I am thankful to the Lord for her, and pray this young lady may one day become a faithful helpmeet, and a tender mother should the Lord see fit.

Starting the bloggin' thing.

Well.

I thought I'd start this blog. We have dial-up (at least for the moment), and I've been contemplating a quick (and easier) way to share photos, activities, and thoughts with our friends and family- particularly all of you on the bottom side of the earth. So- we'll see if this works- and what is evolves to...!

Eric also recently spoiled me with a digital SLR, so I have been experimenting with my photography "skills." I am determined to not simply put this camera on "auto" and shoot- have to get my moneys worth! :)

With that said...I will try to post on a somewhat regular basis with the goings-on in the Valk household. I would love your comments too!
