"P" day....

Yesterday we had a normal day of school, etc. BUT we began the day by picking a letter of the alphabet - "P" and doing, eating things that start with "P." It was great to see everyone's minds working about what we could do! (Nope...not an orginal idea here, I got it from a friend and her family). This first photo they are making the letters of "P-day."

We had a particularly pleasant day! A fun way to "spice" up a winter day! Although the children wanted to pick another letter the very next day.....I'm thinking we might wait a week or two!

When Sinners say "I do"

I have completed this book previously mentioned by Dave Harvey. There are many excellent books that outline the roles of the husband and wife, and various topic or "issues" that need to be looked at in a marriage. All well and good- and needed! This book is exactly as the subtitle suggests, "Discovering the power of the Gospel for Marriage." Both refreshing and convicting.
I'm flipping through and having a hard time knowing what to share.....Here are a few ideas:

After taking an entire chapter, called "Waking up With the Worst Sinners", in which the author encourages us to confess as the apostle Paul did that we are all the "worst of sinners," we are to look at who our sin is against. As Jerry Bridges says, "Sin is wrong, not because of what it does to me, or my spouse, or child, or neighbour, but because it is an act of rebellion against the infinitely holy and majestic God."

We are then encouraged to put our theology into gear, meaning driving onto the road of wisdom. Harvey suggest four "gears" to do this:
1. In Humility, Suspect Yourself First
2. In Integrity, Inspect Yourself
3. Admit that Circumstances Only Reveal Existing Sin
4. Focus on Undeserved Grace, Not Unmet Needs

The next two chapters speak of Mercy and Forgiveness......beautiful.

And a few more excellent chapters after that.......I hope I may have piqued someone's interest to go out and add this book to their bookshelf!

Peek-A-Boo!

This age is just priceless-when they think they are the biggest jokester! And noone can see them! (I did try this post earlier but the photos didn't seem to come through).
